A Press in a Mayfair Mews
Vellum House began in 2009, when letterpress printer Clementine Ashby took the lease on a coach house in a Mayfair mews, installed a 1958 Heidelberg platen and a cabinet of brass type, and started making invitations the slow way — on cotton paper, with inks mixed by hand to match a grandmother's brooch or the green of a garden gate.
In 2023 we began pairing every printed suite with a living website. Now the envelope opens onto a film: the story plays as your guests scroll, and the RSVP, the travel notes and the order of the day live in the same place.

North Woods · A Retreat Opening
AERA
A forest retreat asked for an opening announcement as quiet as the place itself. We pressed a moss-ink card on heavy cotton and paired it with a website told in five cinematic chapters — architecture, weather and stillness at the camera's own pace.

Eleanor & Frederick
A stone chapel, a walled garden and a bundle of a grandmother's letters that started everything. Their suite borrowed her handwriting for the envelopes; their website unfolds like those letters, in a timeline drawn in ink as guests scroll.

Reunited on a sangeet dance floor after a decade apart, they planned four days across three cities. We printed a suite in marigold, rose and saffron foil — one card per ceremony — and gave each its own chapter, colour and rhythm online.

Maya & Jordan
She planned the trip; he packed the ring. Their sea-blue suite was posted from London to guests on three continents, and their clifftop website scrolls the sky from afternoon to sunset while counting down on every guest's own horizon.

The Garden · An 80th Birthday
Margaret at Eighty
Her children commissioned it in secret. Eight decades told as one scroll — from a February snowstorm in 1946 to a seafront summer in 1968 to eighty candles on a cake shaped like books — with a printed card that looked like a library ticket.

An hour at the mews, or on a call, with paper, ink swatches and your story. We listen for the detail that becomes the design.
The Proof
Within ten working days: a printed proof by courier and the first scene of your website by private link.
The Press
Your suite is letterpressed, edged and lined by hand, every envelope calligraphed. The website is built alongside it.
The Premiere
Envelopes are posted the morning your website goes live. Guests open one and step straight into the other.
